Size: 27cm

Description: dainty-looking dove; pink-tinged head, breast and wings with cream-white underbelly. Lower back, tail and lower edge of closed wings grey-blue. Distinctive, black-flecked copper coloured throat. Sexes similar though female is often duller.

Diet: mainly seeds and grains, as well as some insects, eg. ants, termites, fly larvae.

Song: named for its call which is reminiscent of human laughter; however it doesn’t carry very far and can easily be drowned out by city noise.

Breeds: January-October.
