Common Tailorbird - दर्जिन
Orthotomus sutorius
Size: 10-14cm
Description: small warbler with olive-green back, wings and tail, and grey-white face and underbelly. Orange-red crest and long, pale bill are distinctive. Sexes similar. Often seen in pairs, sticks to bushy coverage. Forages both within and below shrubbery, hopping with its tail held up.
Diet: mainly small invertebrates as well as nectar.
Song: a loud, repetitive “chubit chubit chubit” at all times of day.
Breeds: June-August. Weaves leaves together to form a nest, hence the common English name.
