Rose-ringed Parakeet - तोता
Psittacula krameria
Size: 37-43cm
Description: bright yellowy-green with long tail which is blue-green on the top and ochre underneath. Thin, dark collar present around the front and sides of the neck; on males this collar has a pale pink border extending around the back of the neck (see inset); females lack the pink. Orange eye, bright red downward-curving bill. Often seen in pairs, they spend much of their time perched in trees. Agile, fast flyers.
Diet: fruits and grains, regular visitors to bird feeders.
Song: very noisy, squabbly birds; frequently emit high-pitched screeches, whistles and squeaks.
Breeds: January-April.
